MISSION

Personal Statement

IMG_6976.JPG

I came into entertainment at the age of 18 because I felt like I could not live with doing anything else. To this day, it does not feel like work. I believe creating and sharing moments is my superpower; a lot of people spend their whole lives figuring out their "thing." I believe it would be an injustice to myself to sacrifice the gift of knowing my calling; I intend to fully execute on my potential.

In 3-5 years, I aspire to be an executive for a major entertainment company, preferably music. I desire this for a couple of reasons:

1) To do phenomenal work that is true to the culture

2) To lift others as I climb

3) To be a TASTEFUL universal translator between Latin & American consumers and corporate & creatives at the ground level

SOCIAL MEDIA MANAGER

What started as a 3 month internship turned into a 7 month stint working under the guidance of CEO J.R. McKee and President Drew DeLeon, two of the music industry's sharpest entrepreneurs. (known for breaking #1 R&B artist Muni Long) I wore multiple hats working with MPR, but mainly I was in charge of managing a blog called CNNFTS by scheduling content every day in order to educate the average joe on Web3.0. I also helped to develop comprehensive marketing plans for the label's priority artist Amari Noelle.

NIELSEN

September 2020 - April 2022

CLIENT SERVICE/PRODUCT ANALYST

Nielsen was one of the most challenging experiences of my career. I am grateful to say that I was converted from intern to full time the summer of my junior year.

Post college, I had two ultimate goals:

1) Immerse myself into the market research side of every entertainment vertical, study the way audiences consume media, and master the methodologies behind Nielsen's measurement of audiences

2) GET AS ANALYTICALLY STRONG AS POSSIBLE AND WORK THAT LEFT BRAIN

This job was tough because I essentially did 3 different jobs in 18th months - a rotational program. It was pivot after pivot. (coupled with plenty of pivot tables) As soon as you got used to a team, it was time to move on and learn something and someone new. This was so valuable! It gave me my hustler, self-starter instincts which really help you in new undertakings! I parlayed this into all my work here and of course - with starting my first music consultancy company, ameur which you can read more about here!

Work Type

Client Services/Product Management/Product Marketing

Goal: Complete my rotational program to comprehend the market research side of entertainment and become more analytical

Deliverables

Rotation 1 - Univision/ViacomCBS Client Service Associate

Pitched/supported clients, launched products

Rotation 2 - Inclusion Analytics Product Analyst

Product marketing, market analyses, build digital products

Rotation 3 - Gracenote Music Product Analyst

Product marketing, market analyses

Outcome

A product I helped launched in 2020 went on to make $3 million in one year

New product I built, Inclusion Analytics was purchased by Google, IPG Mediabrands, Exeest

I opened the conversation for the company to think about how to sell music data in Web3.0

JR. PRODUCT MANAGER

You know when you work really hard to get that first big break? This was it for me! I would wake up and go to sleep thinking about how to "break into the music industry!" I told every person I came across! And then it happened. I often get asked what I did during this time - I got thrown into the Pacific Ocean and had to learn to swim at the same time. Press, digital marketing, activations, brand partnerships, radio, editing, production - I did EVERYTHING and I NEVER said no to an opportunity.

Work Type

Product Management/Marketing

Goal: Leverage relationships with industry stakeholders to assist in the marketing of artist's songs/projects

Deliverables

Pitch decks, digital marketing assets, press write-ups, events, and other special projects

Outcome

Managed events for Alessia Cara, The 1975, Jac Ross, and Mumford & Sons

SOUNDEXCHANGE

October 2019 - June 2020

RIGHTS MANAGEMENT ASSOCIATE

I began this role while I was still working with UMG. Although I was introduced to a heavier workload, I was very fortunate to be working two music jobs, and it was an excellent way to fortify my understanding of publishing vs. performance royalties. Deeper still - interactive vs. non-interactive performance royalties. Essentially, I would reach out to performers and right owners that had uncollected money in the system and get them signed up with the service. Once signed up, I would help troubleshoot all their inquiries/platform issues. This was a big deal to a lot of artists!

Work Type

Client Service

Goal: Educate performers and rights owners on performance royalties and empower them to monetize their music

Deliverables

Trainings, events, client service

Outcome

Delivered customer service to 65+ artists on the collection society sign-up process

Attended events such as ComplexCon and A3C representing Soundexchange

Empowered 30 artists to obtain a new revenue stream

RIVAL ENTERTAINMENT @ CENTER STAGE THEATRE

October 2018 - January 2019

PRODUCTION SUPPORT

Rival was an excellent taste in what live show business entails. I have always said that the culmination of true artist support is pulling up to a show! So, learning the logistics that empower artists to monetize one of their oldest most profitable revenue streams was a blessing. I would mostly assist with hospitality, show logistics, and box office management. I was also working this job while I was working with UMG.

Work Type

Conference/Live ShowProduction

Goal: Support box office managers and production folks with day to day show responsibilties

Deliverables

Box office management, store runs, production load-ins & load-outs

Outcome

Facilitated entry of patrons for 40+ shows with attendance of up to 1K+ through use of Ticketmaster

Coordinated hospitality and production logistics for 9 shows of up to $15K in ticket revenue
